Uh Oh...Guess Who's Back!

"D'OH"

Talk about withdrawal...In three days, I had four computers breakdown (including my laptop) -- and my network had to be reconfigured. Sheesh!

Anyways, Got lots of good stuff piling up. Where to begin, where to begin.....

Starting with the shark in the water: The Register reported the other day that the West Haven Elks has had some of its fundraising money go, um, "missing". The word around town is that the suspect in this matter is one of our fine elected officials...and the penny is a-gonna drop soon. Now, this person's vote is needed by other politico's; and the opposition is hoping the poop starts flying before the votes are taken.

Of course, there's just a little problem with this hopeful scenario: the US Constitution. This person is presumed innocent until proven guilty, and only until proven guilty. If a guilty verdict is returned, then and only then is this person required to resign. West Haven has no other provision to remove an elected official (remember the big IMPACT "recall" movement in the 1970's?).

Until (or more precisely, unless) a guilty verdict or plea is entered in this case, the individual is fully empowered to vote on all business.

Think a verdict will be returned in three weeks? Talk about speedy justice!

I'm just wondering since you claim to be fair how come everything Picard di wrong (in your eyes) was posted on thei blog before the election and now when Picard is trying to prevent Debbie Collins from getting a $4,000 a year raise and Withingtone form getting a $60,000 a year raise you all of a sudden clam up ?

This is the second time the Withington raise and job will be brought up at the council and you have said NOTHING about it While Picard is sending out emails urging everyone to attend.

If you really cared about this city and not just politics this would have been in your blog instead all we get are your with hunts.

Here is the email.

Here we go again! On Monday at the council meeting Debbie Collins has asked to be put on the agenda a request for a raise. She is asking for an increase in her salary of $4,000 each year for the next 2 years. Also I think they will try to push through the Fran Withington increase from $7,600 to approximately $50,000 plus. The Mayor is very upset, and wants everyone to go to the council meeting. Mayor Picard will be there for sure. Mayor Picard would like to have as many as possible speak against these raises.

It's on the agenda - The MORRISSEY Faction want to give Fran Withington $50,000 more.

Go to the Council Meeting this Monday night 11/23/09 at 7 pm.

Let the council know this is WRONG, it is illegal, and unethical. Where do they plan to get the money? It was not part of the approved budget!

Show your support for Mayor Picard, who is trying to do the right thing for The City of West Haven. Keep West Haven Moving Forward! We need a professional Tax Manager, not more money for someone who's never in the office!

Come to the Council Meeting Monday night at 7PM in West Haven City Hall - 3rd Floor.

Thank you for your help and your support.

First of all, the Withington issue totally changes the job...back to a full-time department head position. Without taking a stand on the actual amount being bandied about (how much do Tax Collectors in Milford or Hamden make?), having someone in charge and respobsible during business hours is desired...and paying for that service is necessary.

I'll have a LOT to say about these two issues very soon.

Then how about hiring someone who is qualified ?

Why not speak out on them BEFORE they are made official so people who read your blog can go to the meetings.

Don't bother answering as we both know why.

I just wonder how crazy this blog would be if Picard was trying to give Ken Carney that job who is MUCH MORE qualified than Withington.

Jim -

Carney is, unfortunately for you, far LESS qualified: he didn't run for the office.

NOBODY ran for the spot ( with the $70K salary) they are trying to create it !!!!!!!

Just admit that this spot and the Collin raise blows apart the picard bidget and you like that ?

I don't like carney at all but ANYONE who knows bothe people know he is MUCH MORE qualified for the job than Withington.

Keep acting like the ELKS has Anything to do with the city of WH, I mean that's real important news.

How come you don't write about the WHFD's $40,000 dice game ?
